Fellowship at the Edward Worth Library, Dublin

The Edward Worth Library, Dublin, is offering a one month research fellowship, to be held in 2016, to encourage research relevant to its collections. The Worth Library is a collection of 4,400 books, left to Dr Steevens' Hospital by Edward Worth (1676-1733), an early eighteenth-century Dublin physician. The collection is particularly strong in three areas: early modern medicine, early modern history of science and, given that Worth was a connoisseur book collector interested in fine bindings and rare printing, the History of the Book. Research does not, however, have to be restricted to these three key areas. Library and Information History Group Conference 2015: Libraries and the Development of Professional Knowledge

Pusey House Oxford on Saturday 19 September.

This conference will consider the various ways in which libraries have served as generators of professional knowledge, and examine how they succeeded in doing so. A student bursary is being offered to attend the conference which covers conference fees and refreshments and up to £100 towards travel expenses. The deadline for the bursary is 31st August 2015. Applications can be made by emailing a short paragraph explaining why you would like to attend the conference, together with a one page CV, to the Chair, Renae Satterley, r.satterley@middletemple.org.uk.
