The University of Roehampton has a beautiful parkland campus, located in the heart of south-west London, and offers excellent facilities for staff and students.

We are looking for a Research Fellow in English & Creative Writing to undertake a significant piece of research during the tenure of an award in collaboration with the lead researcher. “Before Shakespeare: The Beginning of London Commercial Theatre” is a two-year research project funded by the AHRC on the first thirty years of the Elizabethan playhouses (c 1565-95). There will be significant archival work, aiming to produce a census of what we know about this period of theatre history and how we know it. There will also be administrative support relating to a number of practice and performance based experiments with Dolphin’s Back and Shakespeare’s Globe. A successful collaboration will result in named co-authorship of an article, essay collection and monograph.

We are looking for applications from candidates with a complementary academic background. Candidates should be highly motivated and willing and able to engage with this collaboration.

POSITION: Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Warwick

Italian Studies at the University of Warwick is seeking a postdoctoral Research Fellow as part of the ERC-funded Starting Investigator Grant on ‘Aristotle in the Italian Vernacular: Rethinking Renaissance and Early-Modern Intellectual History (c. 1400-c. 1650)’. The Research Fellow will have an 18-month appointment and will conduct research on topics related to the interpretation of Aristotle’s works in the Italian vernacular, with particular attention to the genres of Aristotelian works written in Italian. Research Fellow, to assist with the Oxford Edition of John Marston

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to assist the General Editors of the newly commissioned Oxford Edition of John Marston. This major new project will create the first modern critical edition (in print and digital form) of Marston's complete works. The successful applicant will be based at Leeds, and will be part of a fourteen-strong editorial team working under the direction of Professor Martin Butler (Leeds) and Professor Matthew Steggle (Sheffield Hallam).

You will undertake collation of printed books and manuscripts in Britain and the UK, help to prepare the old-spelling text, compile contextual materials for the edition, and assist with the work of editorial checking and correction. In addition, the role will involve managing the edition’s website and digital output, liaising with other members of the editorial team, and organising the workshops and public events associated with the project.

You will have a PhD in early modern English Literature or related subject along with experience of working with 17th Century books and manuscripts.

University Grade 7 (£31,342 - £37,394 p.a.; funding limitations mean that the initial appointment will be made no higher than £32,277 p.a.).
